Scar Wax:

  • Set up one mirror on each side of your model to help view the profiles while working.

  • Coat your fingertips with a Vaseline, lotion or oil  to keep the wax from sticking to them.

Spirit Gum:

  • Be clean shaven to avoid the adhesive sticking to and pulling out hair during application and removal.

  • Apply a first layer to the skin and let it dry completely. This will act as a sweat barrier. then add a second layer, wait until it gets tacky then apply the prosthetic.

Liquid Latex:

  • For an old look, spread the Liquid Latex across the skin with a brush while pulling the skin and once it drys let go and it should wrinkle.

  • A light layer of oil or grease can prevent skin irritations and also keeps hair from embedding into the latex, which can be painful when the latex is peeled off.

Silicone:

  • The most important part when making a facial mold is covering your hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, and removing any other hair.

  • Use disposable cups and brushes for easier clean up.
